I know that what I’m about to say is close to impossible (if it’s not actually impossible), but at times it’s necessary to let your imagination run wild.

So here goes…

If Naruto and Luffy fought against each other in a death match, who do you think would win?

I know that these two anime characters are from two totally different anime backgrounds, but I also know that you’ve thought about the same thing at least once.

We all wonder who is the strongest protagonist among all the different anime series out there. We all wonder who among our favorite anime characters is truly the strongest…

Here are my views on this one:

I think Naruto would defeat Luffy (sorry to all Luffy fans).

Just think about it for a second.

Naruto Vs Luffy…

Well, it’s kind of unfair since Naruto has Kurama (the nine tails) on his side.

This not only gives him an enormous supply of chakra, but also gives him an increase in speed, strength and healing capabilities.

Not to forget that nearly impenetrable chakra shroud, that even Orochimaru‘s Sword of Kusanagi could not pierce through.

After finally reconciling with Kurama, Naruto now has access to all the kyuubi’s powers, particularly the ultimate technique of a bijuu – Bijūdama (Tailed Beast Ball).

Let’s not forget that Naruto can also use Sage Mode.

Despite all the above, I’m not necessarily writing off Luffy.

Luffy’s strength is unbelievable, thanks to the training he underwent under his grandfather when he was a child (like being left in a forest at night).

His endurance is just on a level of its own. When Luffy says that he’s not going down…he actually means that he’s not going down! This is coupled with his willpower, which is considered to be the willpower worthy of a King.

Gear Second increases his speed and strength tremendously while Gear Third (imbued with haki) increase the strength of his attacks to insane levels. (Maybe there is even a Gear Fourth on the way?) All this is made possible due to his devil fruit powers (which he attained after eating the Gomu Gomu no Mi).

Luffy is one of the few people who is able to use all the three types of Haki: Haoshoku Haki, Kenbunshoku Haki and Busoshoku Haki.

It is also worth mentioning that Luffy is the only pirate who has broken into all the 3 most important government facilities (Enies Lobby, Impel Down and Marineford) and then gone ahead to caused havoc everywhere.

The techniques and skills mentioned above only represent a fraction of these two protagonists’ true strength. There is so so much more to them…

Luffy would clearly be a tough opponent to beat, but I still support my earlier view that Naruto would beat Luffy (and by beat I don’t mean thrash, I mean barely win the fight).

Undoubtedly, both Naruto and Luffy are formidable fighters, but ultimately, Naruto has the upper hand (maybe because of Kurama?).

I really don’t want to choose between the two, but since there is no other choice, I’ll have to go with Naruto on this one.

Feel free to agree or disagree.

If you think that Luffy would actually win, go ahead and give your reasons.

After all, I’m not saying that Naruto would definitely win.

The only way we would get to know who the better fighter is with certainty is if they actually fought in a death match…

  1. i think luffy can defeat naruto,,
cause he can use 3 hakis and capable of killing without any movement …t
specially when we are talking about natural strength without any powers,
i think it would be best fight ever .and if they both die,,iguesss 😛

    • Well, it’s kind of an unfair fight since Naruto has Kurama with him.
But Luffy is one hell of a fighter who just doesn’t give up. So it’s not even a guarantee that Naruto would win.
Who would win? Your guess is as good as mine.

      • Well actually the luffy trained on an island full of beasts bigger than a biju, and tamed all of them, he also tamed Cerberus, and the kraken, so he would probably laugh if he saw kurama. Also luffy has destroyed mountains with one punch, look up him hitting Hordy jones and you’ll see. It doesn’t matter how fast naruto is or what nine tails can do, if luffy’s haki tells every move he’s gonna make. Plus luffy can negate elemental energy with armament haki so if he really wanted to, he could catch rasenshuriken and throw if back at him. Not only this, but there is something in one pice called a impact dial, capable of obsorbing forces including explosions ( bijuu bomb) and storing them to use against your enemy. So basically what I’m sang is, if all else fails a seashell could kill naruto. And I watch both naruto and onepiece so I’m not as biased as some other people. I actually like naruto a lot, but onepice characters are just super op after the time skip

  2. naruto would definitly win now he knows how to control the 9 tails. luffy is my favourite anime character apart from naruto and maybe zoro. apologies to all luffy fans but with moves like mini wind shuriken at the flick of a finger im for naruto !!

    • I agree with you.
As much as I love Luffy, I’d have to side with Naruto on this one.
Luffy has a greater willpower, but Naruto simply has much more skill (currently).

  3. Pre-Timeskip Luffy would lose to late-story Naruto. However, with the gears, haki, and the ability to take punishment, Post-timeskip Luffy would finish Naruto, no matter how many clones, how many elemental Rasengans, how many little tricks he might pull… Luffy can see through attacks now, hit with thousands of truck-sized punches in a short amount of time. Not to mention his Gear Second speed. Naruto wouldn’t stand a chance. Even a thousand Kagebunshin wielding RasenBijuudama wouldn’t be able to beat Luffy.
